History of the School

Hindu Vidyalaya at Adambakkam was founded in the year 1978 under the initiative and Leadership and visionary of Shri. S. Vedantam JI, Gen. Secretary-VHVK.

The school was founded in 1979 with 10 grounds of land allotted by Railway Staff Co-operative building society Ltd., Royapuram and was later developed further on the 14 grounds donated by Shri. S. J. Pothi, retired from UNO. Sri. G. K. Shetty builder – Engineer came forward as the main donor. To honour the donor, the school was named after as G. K. Shetty Hindu Vidyalaya in 1982.

On 19th May 1985 Hindu Vidyalaya at Adambakkam bloomed in to Junior college with the blessings of H. H. Swami Chinmayananda Ji and Rev.Fr T. V. Kunnakkl, Chairman, CBSE, New Delhi and Shri S. Paramasivam, Regional officer Madras. Since the parents opted for Matriculation, the school has changed from CBSE Stream to Matriculation board in 1992-93. The school has been upgraded to Higher secondary from 1990-91. On 18th December 2021 the grand inauguration of ATAL was held.

The library was named after Sri S. J. Pothi in the year 1982.
