History Of Hindu Vidyalayas –
Kanyakumari District

The schools based on Hindu culture started at the clarion call of Sri. Jayendra Saraswathi Swamigal in 1975, saw the birth of Hindu Vidyalayas in Kanyakumari District.
Maharishi Mahesh yogi, started Hindu schools under the banner “Maharishi Vidyapeet” in the year 1978-79, with a strength of 196 students. For unknown reasons, when Maharishi wanted to withdraw from the project of the schools in 1981, Sri. S. Vedantam Ji, the President of Vishva Hindu Vidya Kendra, uncompromisingly acquired and retained the purpose for which the schools were started.
Initially, the schools were started in nine different locations across KK district at Krishnancoil, Thuckalay, Marthandam, Karungal, Radhakrishnapuram, Nagercoil town, Ganapathipuram, Boothapandi, Aralvoimozhi. Among them, some were merged and at present we have seven schools in KK District.

History of the School

Hindu Vidyalaya Matric. Hr. Sec. School, Krishnancoil, was initially functioning in the campus of Kumarasamy College, owned by Sri. Padmanabhan, (the owner of Nagammal mill). When the mill owners wanted the land for some other purpose, His Holiness Sri. Sivaprakasa Desika Paramacharya Swamigal of Thiruvavaduthurai, provided a 2 acre land to continue the school without any problem. Thus, the school was named after the first pontiff of Thiruvavadudurai Adheenam as “Sri Namasivaya Moorthigal Hindu Vidyalaya Matric. Hr. Sec. School”, in July 1986.
The I floor of the new school building was inaugurated on 31st May 1989 by the then Hon’ble Deputy Chief Minister of Maharashtra Shri. Gopinath Munde in the divine presence of Thiruvavaduthurai Adheenam Sri Sivaprakasha Desika Paramacharya Swamigal.
In the academic year 2002-2003, the then Central Urban Development Minister Sri. Pon Radhakrishnan provided from his MP’s fund worth Rs.5 lakhs to construct two big class rooms.
Besides, when the need arose for the additional class rooms and the expansion of laboratories or Library, our management constructed an additional three storeyed new school block which consists of 18 class room and the labs needed. The building was inaugurated on 29th May 2015 by our President Sri. S. Vedantam Ji.
To match the advancement of technology, a sophisticated Computer lab with 20 computers and a UPS with 15 batteries worth 10 Lakhs was sponsored by Sri. R. P. Krishnamachari of Tex Bioscience Ltd. The lab was inaugurated by Sri and Smt. Krishnamachari, in 2015.
